“One of the great things about our new website is that you can instantly access our variety information on your smartphones and iPads, in addition to your laptop and desktop computers,” says Americot Marketing Manager Julie Dingus.  “Say you’re impressed with a neighbor’s Americot or NexGen variety.  You can quickly access our website on your iPhone and pull up the variety’s tech sheet that describes its characteristics.  You also can view its OVT performance data, etc.  Additionally, you can read what growers in your state and region are saying about the variety in our extensive Grower Testimonial page.”

Side elements on almost every website page also provide flexible forums to offer the latest news to viewers.  “For example, during the season, one side element highlighted our agronomic Cotton Field Report, a popular monthly agronomic update on the cotton crop from Texas through the Carolinas,” Dingus says.  “We later used the element to post the dates and locations of our upcoming field days.  Viewers can click a field day’s hot link to pull up a PDF that gives more in-depth information.”

Other helpful information that users can pull from the Americot website is contact information about nearby sales representatives in the Southwest, Midsouth and Southeast.  Additionally, growers can download PDFs of Americot’s Replant Program, Drought Program and Finance Program.  “The whole website is informative and very user friendly—even on the turnrow,” Dingus says.  “It’s an evolving, handy variety tool for cotton growers and others in the industry; we’re constantly adding more features.”

Americot, Inc. Releases Exceptional Quality Planting Seed

LUBBOCK, TX, April 9, 2012 – Americot, Inc., a leading supplier of cotton seed, is pleased to release exceptional quality planting seed for the 2012 season.  Americot General Manager Terry Campbell says, “We always provide excellent seed quality, but this year we have exceptional seed quality.  We’re seeing cool germ ratings in the 80s and even in the 90s in some cases.”

This exceptional germination rate has been proven in South Texas in university research and in growers’ fields.  For example, AM 1511 B2RF was rated one of the highest commercial varieties in the Texas A&M University Nueces Monster cotton Variety Trial (MVT) vigor test, conducted by Dan Fromme in Corpus Christi.  The study blindly tested (the researcher did not know what variety he was looking at) 41 varieties and 4 reps.  Ratings are for 7 days after emergence:  1-5 ratings, 1=poor, 5=excellent.  AM 1511 B2RF scored 4.8.

South Texas Americot Sales Representative Kevin Cavanaugh says, “Fromme’s test results shows very good vigor seven days after emergence.  We have high quality seed that is real hot out of the ground and grows off very well.

“Additionally, South Texas growers are amazed at AM 1511 B2RF’s exceptional germination.  One grower was so pleased with the germination of the variety that he called his retailer for the germination test results, which rated a 92 warm germination and a 87 cool germ.  The grower had never seen cotton come up so fast.”

Campbell adds, “2011 was hard on producing a cotton crop but as far as seed production, the dry fall really aided in harvesting quality planting seed.  Bottom line, the seed quality of all the Americot® brand and NexGen® brand cotton varieties is very good.  We have seed production in West Texas, South Plains of Texas, and Arizona, and our seed quality is as high as we’ve ever seen it.  All of our germination tests are run by Mississippi State University.”

Americot, Inc., headquartered in Lubbock, Texas, provides Southwest, Midsouth and Southeast cotton growers with quality planting seed of varieties that offer high yield potential and excellent fiber quality with the technologies that growers want and need.  For more information on NexGen® brand and Americot® brand cotton products, call 888.678.7333 or go to www.americot.com.

New Americot Variety Out-Yields – Midsouth and Southeast Favorites

LUBBOCK, TX, January 26, 2012 – Americot, Inc.’s new cotton variety, AM 1511 B2RF out-yields commonly planted varieties in university variety trials (OVTs) and in growers’ fields.

“In extensive Midsouth OVTs, for example, AM 1511 B2RF outperformed the four most planted cotton varieties by a yield advantage ranging from 40.2 pounds to 101.5 pounds,” says Americot General Manager Terry Campbell.  “In 80 OVT trials, our new variety averaged 1,399 pounds per acre.  We are so excited about this variety that I want 1,000 Midsouth cotton farmers each to plant 10 bags of it.  In addition to the yield advantage, they will see excellent fiber quality, outstanding gin turnout and excellent seedling vigor.

“We’ve seen the same stellar performance in the Southeast OVTs.  In that region, AM 1511 B2RF outperformed the four most planted Southeast cotton varieties by a yield advantage ranging from 66.9 pounds to 219.5 pounds.”

Midsouth and Southeast growers who tried AM 1511 B2RF in 2011 also reported similar on-farm results.  Bishop Whitley, a Craighead County, Arkansas cotton farmer, said AM 1511 B2RF averaged more than 1,500 pounds per acre—and 2011 was a tough year.  And Wes Woodard, who farms near Darlington, South Carolina, said AM 1511 B2RF averaged more than two bales per acre.  He farmed it dryland and feels if he had caught a couple of rains, the variety would have made even more.  Both growers say the Americot variety graded well.

AM 1511 B2RF is a Bollgard II, Roundup Ready Flex variety that features a staple range of 36-37, strength 29-30 and micronaire 4.4-4.8. This medium maturity variety is a medium- to-tall plant and is a semi-smooth leaf cotton. AM 1511 B2RF has excellent seedling vigor and provides proven Fusarium wilt tolerance and moderate Verticillium wilt tolerance.

“Based on AM 1511 B2RF’s outstanding performance in OVT tests the last two years, we have received calls from cotton specialists and consultants across the Cotton Belt wanting to make sure we will have the variety available this year,” Campbell says.  “The answer is, ‘yes.’  We have a good supply for 2012.”
